CORFU. Applications for the 116 School Principals can be submitted by 24 January.

Following a two-year delay, the educational personnel, starting with the School Principals, can start submitting their applications and the necessary documents on the Ministry of Education’s online platform.

The process began on Tuesday 4 January and those interested in applying for one of the 116 positions of Primary Education (58 positions) and Secondary Education (58) School Principals across the country will be able to submit their applications on the Ministry's platform (https://teachersapp.it.minedu.gov.gr/) until January 24 at 14:00. For Corfu, there are two positions available.

Who is eligible to apply?

Eligible to apply for the position of School Principal are teachers who:
- have 15 years of educational service
- have 8 years of teaching service, 4 years of which are in the level of education they are interested in
- have been working for at least two years in the positions mentioned in Article 31(2) of Law No. 31. 4823/2021
- have an A Level Information and Communication Technologies certificate.

Selection

The selection process will be based on both the applicant's qualifications and the interview. It should be noted that applications for School Principals were last held in 2017. Although the positions were advertised in 2019 before the parliamentary elections, they were cancelled when the government changed and subsequently the positions were filled by people appointed by the Ministry of Education.

“There will be participation”

However, Ionian Islands Regional Director of Education Petros Aggelopoulos told Enimerosi that there is expected to be participation from candidate teachers who meet the criteria in all the Ionian Islands, while those selected are expected to start working immediately.

According to him, the positions for Regional School Principals are expected to follow immediately afterwards.

Interview in a foreign language for foreign degree holders

In an effort, however, to avoid the mistakes of the past, the Ministry of Education is trying to put things in order so that the whole procedure can be carried out in the most meritocratic and transparent way. In this context, candidates who submit a degree or a master's degree or a doctorate from a foreign academic institution will be interviewed, in front of the responsible selection Board, in that foreign language, in order to be graded for their degrees and their knowledge of the foreign language in which they were obtained. The candidates will be graded on a 10-point scale.
