CORFU. The Finance Committee approved the notice of international open electronic invitation for tenders for the supply of equipment.
The Municipal Authority said that the delays in the project for the regeneration of the Garitsa and Anemomylos Parks, which was expected to begin in autumn, are due to bureaucratic deadlines.
Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Mayor Meropi Ydraiou told Enimerosi that the project's contractor has already been invited and the signing of the contract is expected, so that work in the area can begin. “It is a matter of bureaucratic deadlines. We were waiting for the objection period to end so that we could get the Decentralised Administration’s approval that the deadline was completed and no objections were submitted. We have sent the invitation to the contractor. Then, the signing of the contracts will follow and the contractor will be put in place. However, if the latter has an objective obstacle, they can ask for an extension of a few days,” explained Mrs. Ydraiou.
Deputy Mayor for Technical Works Nikos Kalogeros had said in July that a provisional contractor had emerged from the tender process and once the required procedures were completed in September, the final contractor would emerge and begin work immediately.
The project
The work that will be done will be mild with the aim of upgrading and regenerating the park so that it is functional and accessible. The work that will be done concerns a series of actions aimed at the regeneration and upgrade of the Garitsa and Anemomylos Parks, starting from ‘Douglas Column’ to the area of ‘Nautilus’ and along the Garitsa Bay and the Garitsa and Anemomylos neighbourhoods.
The works will be implemented in three sub-projects:
Sub-project 1: Regeneration of Garitsa and Anemomylos Parks
Sub-project 2: Equipment for the upgrading of Garitsa and Anemomylos Parks
Sub-project 3: Archaeological research
International open electronic invitation for tenders
For the second sub-project, the Municipal Finance Committee gave the ‘green light’ for the approval of the tender documents and the preparation of the tender terms for the supply of equipment for the upgrading of the Garitsa and Anemomylos Parks at a meeting on Tuesday 30 November.
The international open electronic invitation for tenders will be conducted with the most economically advantageous tender as the award criterion.
What is included
The regeneration project includes the following:
- Replacement of playground equipment
- Installation of six adult gymnastics apparatus for outdoor exercise in each outdoor gym
- Replacement of existing basketball courts
- Installation of new roller-skating rink
- Replacement of benches, tables, waste bins, parking barriers, etc.
- Replacement of existing street lighting not only in Garitsa and Anemomylos Parks, but also in Dimokratias Avenue
The study’s total budget is €738,012 (including 24% VAT) and the duration is set at 12 months.
