CORFU. The ban on escorts in the Pathological Department has been extended to the end of the week.
The number of Covid patients being admitted to Corfu Hospital remains at the same level. According to hospital sources, today (Monday - 12:20) there are 26 patients in the Special Infectious Diseases Unit, 10 in the Pulmonary Clinic and 4 in the ICU.
Yesterday, Sunday, another Covid patient in the ICU died - a 76-year-old unvaccinated man.
Ban continues for another week
The ban on escorts entering the Pathological Department has been extended for another week following the Covid cases amongst patients there. The Infectious Diseases Committee initially took the decision on Saturday and following a review it was considered necessary to extend the measure to the end of the week.
The current measures allow only one escort per patient and they have to take a rapid test before they can enter the hospital, whether or not they are vaccinated. If they need to leave the hospital, they have to take another rapid test before coming back in.
Nevertheless, the number of cases is increasing in the Pathological Department, which has the most patients and personnel in the hospital.
