CORFU. The aim is to have it installed in early December.
The Upper Square near the fountain will be ‘decorated’ for Christmas. Carousels and other games will be installed in view of Christmas and the New Year, waiting for young and old to be carried away by the magic of the holidays. The approval for providing the area of the Upper Square near the fountain (Corfu Municipal Unit) for the placement and operation of a carousel and other games and activities was given yesterday during the Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Municipal Council emergency meeting.
The meeting was deemed urgent because all the necessary procedures must be done immediately, in order to place and operate the carousel and the other games and activities from the beginning of December, in view of the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The initiative for the use of the area in the Upper Square is part of the Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Municipality events entitled ‘The Christmas Fairy Tale’, in the Town Hall Square. The events include Christmas activities in wooden houses for the little ones, children's shows, interactive events, concerts of musical ensembles, etc.
The Deputy Mayor for Culture Chrysoula Tombrou told Enimerosi that meetings are currently being held with Philharmonic Bands, theatre groups, dance schools, and Cultural Associations regarding their participation in the daily events planned for ‘The Christmas Fairy Tale’.
