North Corfu Municipality distributes packages to those in need
CORFU. "Christmas solidarity packages"
(North Corfu Municipality) For the festive season, the Municipality of North Corfu, through its social services and civil protection service, gathered and prepared "Christmas Solidarity Packages" as tangible aid and support for families (including large families), financially disadvantaged individuals, and vulnerable groups who are facing severe challenges and are struggling to meet their basic needs. These packages aim to cover primary needs by providing products - food, essential items, and supportive services. The food is sourced from sponsorships and donations, as well as from supplies procured by the Municipality of North Corfu.
The goal is to ensure that no fellow resident, no family, in any neighbourhood or village, is left without something on their festive table. The Christmas love packages include long-life food items, meat, and more, and are distributed with the utmost respect and dignity.
"At these times, we join forces for our vulnerable fellow humans," stated the Mayor of North Corfu, Giorgos Mahimaris. The Municipality, through its organised social structures and civil protection service, is making every effort to practically support impoverished residents and contribute in every way to their relief. At the same time, it supports the "packages of love" from the community shop of the Holy Metropolis of Corfu, Paxos, and Diapontia Islands, which, with the personal involvement of Archbishop Nektarios, became the foundation for multiplying the aid offered.
