Pupils not taking part in ΄First Sunday΄ church procession

CORFU. Only clergy will be taking part.
Due to the recent worsening of the epidemiological situation in Corfu, a meeting was held at the Maraslio Town Hall this morning to coordinate the religious ceremonies for 'First Sunday'.
The following took part in the meeting: Mayor Meropi Ydraiou, Municipal Council President Dimitris Metallinos, Corfu Police Chief and Archbishop Nektarios.
In order to avoid further spreading of the virus amongst school pupils, it was decided to hold the traditional procession without pupils, scouts and guides and only with clergy taking part.
The number of dignitaries present will also be limited.
Five Philharmonic Bands will take part (Old, Mantzaros, Capodistrias, Korakiana and Gastouri) with a small number of musicians and they will remain stationary at separate locations whilst the procession is taking place.
