CORFU. Potamos residents came for the appointment that had been arranged for Wednesday morning.
Representatives of the residents met with Ionian Islands Regional Governor Rodi Kratsa to present their demands.
They expressed their displeasure with the way the state has responded to the problem of the old and dangerous bridge, which, following a lot of bureaucratic toing and froing, still hasn't seen any maintenance or repairs.
The recent flooding demonstrated the need for the riverbed to be cleaned, which, the residents said, hasn't seen any work done since 2005.
Also present at the meeting were the Deputy Regional Governors for Corfu and Infrastructure Kostas Zorbas and Manolis Orphanoudakis as well as Major General Michalis Klouvas, who is head of the armed forces team in Corfu to carry out the necessary work at the island's three main rivers.
