2nd meeting for the cross-border development project of South Corfu fishing culture

CORFU. The aim is to create a Local Support Group for South Corfu, which will focus on the promotion and preservation of the area’s cultural heritage.

The Corfu Inspectorate of Antiquities, as part of the Interreg V-A Greece-Italy 2014-2020 territorial cooperation project “Fisheries and Cultural Heritage, Identity and Participated Societies” (FISH & CHIPS), is organising the second meeting between the contracting entities for the finalisation of the Understanding and Cooperation Plan for the implementation of the strategy for the cross-border development of the South Corfu fishing culture.
 
The meeting will take place in the Corfu Inspectorate of Antiquities’ conference room at the Old Fortress on Friday 15 October 2021 at 11:00am. The aim of the meeting is to finalise the “Understanding and Cooperation Plan” between the Corfu Inspectorate of Antiquities and the representatives of the Ionian Islands Region, the South Corfu Municipality, the Corfu Environmental Education Centre, the Petriti Fishing Society and the Association for the Protection of South Corfu Natura areas.
 
The aim of the bodies’ cooperation is the creation and operation of a Local Support Group for South Corfu, which will focus on promoting and preserving the area’s cultural heritage, on creating joint initiatives and proposals as part of co-funded programmes that will enhance the region’s development, as well as on promoting South Corfu’s cultural and fishing tourism.
 
During the meeting of the representatives, all measures to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 will be strictly observed.
