3rd Corfu Food and Wine Festival opens in People΄s Garden

CORFU. Producers from all Ionian Islands are taking part for the first time this year.
The 3rd Corfu Food and Wine Festival opened in the People's Garden on Monday evening. The President of Ionian Inspires Spyros Stefanides welcomed the guests.
Welcome addresses were given by the following:
- Yiannis Chrysoulakis, General Secretary of the Foreign Ministry Greek Diaspora and Public Diplomacy Department
- Rodi Kratsa-Tsagaropoulou, Ionian Islands Regional Governor
- Meropi Ydraiou, Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Mayor
- Giorgos Hondroyiannis, Corfu Chamber of Commerce President
- Babis Voulgaris, Corfu Hoteliers' Association President
- Spyros Halikiopoulos, AOCTA President
- Spyros Voulismas, Chefs Club President
Special Award for Culinary Traveller of the Year
- The Chefs' Club presented the Culinary Traveller of the Year Award to the internationally-renowned chef from Corfu Pericles Koskinas.
Symposio
All the necessary health protocols were observed - round tables with ten guests seated at each and food and drink were served individually.
- The Agrifood Partnership with the top chefs of the Ionian Islands and Corfu Chefs' Club presented traditional and contemporary dishes based on local Ionian products and Ionian producers displayed their products to businesses and visitors.
- Music and Literature from local groups showcasing the cultural identity of the Ionian Islands.
- Local producers were presented.
- Round-table discussion on the utilisation of the diaspora to strengthen the promotion of local gastronomy abroad.
- Round-table discussion on innovation in agricultural production and gastronomy - threats and opportunities.
