CORFU. No harm came to any of the passengers and there was no sea pollution.
The captain of the ferry boat Ilida Dolphin informed Corfu Port Authority yesterday evening that he was sailing at reduced speed due to having sucked in an object whilst sailing from Paxos to Corfu but did not require assistance.
A Coastguard patrol boat went to accompany the vessel in case any assistance became necessary but the ferry boat reached Corfu Port on its own and all 97 passengers disembarked safely.
Inspectors then boarded the ship to inspect the engine but no malfunction was observed. The vessel was then taken out for a trial and the results proved satisfactory.
