CORFU. Corfu Hospital Employees΄ Union President Dina Ioannou said that 64 employees who didn΄t want to get vaccinated have been suspended from today.

Employees΄ Union President Dina Ioannou told ERT Kerkyra today that 64 Corfu Hospital employees who didn΄t want to get vaccinated have been suspended from today.

Despite the initial estimates and the silence maintained by the hospital administration up to now regarding health workers who have not been vaccinated, the true picture has now become clear.

According to hospital sources, out of the total of 64, 30 are nursing staff - 13 at the hospital and 17 at the Psychiatric Clinic. The remainder are technical staff (electricians, plumbers etc), cleaners and administrative staff plus two auxiliary doctors who refused to get vaccinated.

According to administrative sources, some positions have already been covered by existing auxiliary personnel and two general duties employees and one administrative employee are also being used to cover for suspended personnel.

The same sources say that very few of the suspended nursing staff are willing to get vaccinated and they are maintaining the stance they have had right from the beginning.

Up to now, however, the official suspension documents have still not been issued.

Protest

Early this morning Corfu Hospital Employees΄ Union held a protest at the hospital entrance as part of the nationwide protest organised by the national union (POEDHN) against mandatory vaccinations.
