Ionian University supports fire victims

CORFU. The Ionian University, in order to support the fire victims, is offering them, since August 6 and in agreement with the Ministry of Education, a total of 150 beds in the Corfu student dorms. At the same time, the Ionian University is trying to find ways to support its students that have been affected by fire and will be studying at the University in the next academic year.

The Ionian University announced that it is ready to help deal with the direct and indirect consequences of fires, as well as develop prevention and protection procedures from natural disasters for the citizens.

The announcement said that “The devastating events of the last few days affect the lives of thousands of our fellow humans, but also create extremely adverse environmental effects for current and future generations. It also shows, even retrospectively, the importance of revising environmental management and policy nationwide, as well as the equally important role that the scientific community has to play in environmental and civil protection.”
