CORFU. 12 patients are hospitalised in Corfu Hospital Special Infectious Diseases Unit with Covid-19 and there is one patient in the ICU.
The patients are unvaccinated. The Head of the Pulmonary Department Elias Papanikolaos told ERA Kerkyra that over the last two weeks admissions to the Special Infectious Diseases Unit are mainly from the 30-50 age group and the average age is 45. However, since yesterday patients from the 80-85 age group are being hospitalised, who have been infected by family and relatives.
Dr. Papanikolaos sounded a warning as the transmission of the virus to older people is mainly from younger people who haven't been vaccinated.
