Car fire in Troumpeta spreads to surrounding area

CORFU. The embankments next to the road had not been cleared.
Fire broke out in Troumpeta on Saturday evening. According to initial information from the Fire Department, the fire started when a car burst into flames and spread to the surrounding area. The driver was able to get out of the vehicle in time and his life was not in danger.
When firefighters arrived they found fires in three spots. Five fire engines with their crews fought the fire along with another team of seven. According to the Fire Department, the fires have been brought under partial control.
"The embankments along the side of the road hadn't been cleared," said Fire Chief Nikos Kolovos, who stressed the fire risk this causes.
