CORFU. The number of people coming to get vaccinated at the new Mega vaccination centre in Corfu has been disappointing.

The centre in Corfu Town has been set up in order to speed up the vaccination programme on the island.

According to Corfu Medical Association President Dimitris Kaloudis, approximately 500 vaccinations were administered on the first day - out of 700 appointments - 200 on the second day and only around 150 appointments have been made for today.

However, the vaccination programme is progressing steadily at Corfu Hospital and the other health centres. According to EODY statistics, a total of 1,495 vaccinations were administered in Corfu and over 40,000 people have had at least the first shot (Ministry of Health data, 1 June) with a total of 60,000 vaccinations altogether.

The Health Ministry General Secretary Marios Themistokleous is due to visit Corfu this week.
