CORFU. Church bells will ring out at midnight on Easter Saturday as usual even though church services will take place at 9 p.m. this year due to the pandemic.
Nektarios, Archbishop of Corfu, announced that all the church bells in Corfu will ring out at midnight on Easter Saturday and not at 9p.m. when the church services take place. Several parishes on the island will conduct the service on Sunday morning, according to the old Corfu tradition.
The Archbishop called on believers to observe the strict fast on Easter Saturday as laid down by the Church and not to break it until the service for the Resurrection is over.
On Wednesday the Archbishop met with police to coordinate in preparation for Easter in view of the pandemic.
