How and when Holy Light will arrive in Corfu
CORFU. Arriving with Sky Express at 21:35.
The Holy Light will be brought to Athens on Easter Saturday under tight security and as part of a large-scale operation.
Despite the emergency situation in Jerusalem, the Holy Light ceremony will go ahead as planned, led by Patriarch Theophilos, but without any worshippers present. Only 15 priests will attend the ceremony.
Because of the restrictions, it won’t be possible to transport the Holy Light directly from Jerusalem. Instead, it will be taken by road to Tel Aviv and then flown to Athens on a special flight.
Speaking to ERT, Deputy Foreign Minister Yiannis Loverdos said he is optimistic that the flight carrying the Holy Light will arrive in Athens at 7:00 p.m. on Easter Saturday, allowing it to be distributed across Greece in time.
From there, it will be flown to Corfu later that evening on a Sky Express flight from Athens to Corfu, scheduled from 20:30 to 21:35.
