Travel between Regions - what is allowed

ATHENS. The Joint Ministerial Decision regarding travel between Regions until 10 May was published in the Government Gazette today.

Inter-regional travel

Until 10 May travel between Regions is allowed for the following reasons:

1. Whilst the present regulation is in force travel between Regions by any means of transport is prohibited, especially for Attica, where trael outside the Region and to islands is prohibited.

2. The exceptions are as follows:

- Travel to and from work

- Health reasons and only for travel to public health services

- One-way travel to place of permanent residence

- Funerals - copies of death certificate and burial permission must be shown. No more than 48 hours is permitted.

- Divorced or separated parents for parent-child contact

3. In each case a) only the absolutely necessary amount of time is allowed b) documentation shows time of departure and return c) if more than one person is using the same means of transport, each person must have documentation.

Penalties

1. €300 fine per person for violations.

2. €500 fine for false or counterfeit documents


The above regulations apply until 06:00 on Monday 10 May.
