ATHENS. The Government announced new relaxed measures on Friday. See what opens up from today and the changes in lockdown.
In yesterday's government update Civil Protection Deputy Minister Nikos Hardalias stressed that, "The aim of these decisions is to facilitate adherence to the existing measures.
We understand the exhaustion from the existing situation and this is why, as the weather gradually improves, we want to allow use of outdoor spaces where, as we all know, there is less transmission of the virus, as opposed to indoor spaces - especially if we maintain proper distancing and wear masks outdoors."
With this in mind, the members of the Special Experts Committee decided on Friday to allow the immediate implementation of specific measures which have a low level of epidemiological risk.
The updated measures:
- The curfew, which applies to the whole country, will be from 21:00 to 05:00 every day.
- Hairdressing and nail salons will reopen on Monday adhering to all the existing health protocols.
- Outdoor archaeological sites will reopen with up to three visitors except in the case of families. Masks are mandatory along with proper distancing. Code 6 must be used and visits cannot be by car.
- Public parks will reopen with visits from up to three people together except in the case of families. Masks are mandatory along with proper distancing. The movement code must be used and visits cannot be by car.
"So, visits to archaeological sites and parks are allowed without the use of cars or motorbikes - just on foot or by bike," said Mr. Hardalias. "Using Code 6."
Churches
Services are allowed in cathedrals in each Municipality with one attendee per 25 sq.m. up to a maximum of 20. Masks are mandatory and the local Metropolitan Church is responsible for the mandatory testing of priests and church singers for the following three special services:
Sunday 21 March
Thursday 25 March
Friday 26 March
Fishing
Amateur fishing is allowed either from a boat up to 8m long or from the shore for Municipalities by the sea. Code 6 must be used and one can only go on foot or by bike and have proof of ownership if using a boat.
