CORFU. The Municipal Tourism and European Programmes Departments worked together to promote the destination (Gastronomy, local products, alternative tourism etc.).
Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipality is taking part in ITB Berlin Travel Trade Show which is taking place online 9 - 12 March.
As part of the Interreg V-A Greece-Italy 2014-2020 programme Enhancing regional transportation through Sustainable Water Aerodrome Network (SWAN), the Municipality is responsible for the coordination of the partnership's participation in the Show - Corfu Port Authority, Taranto Port, Kalipolis Municipality and Nardo Municipality.
The SWAN project aims to establish and utilise a waterway network with the ports of Corfu, Paxos, Diapontia Islands, Taranto, Kalipolis and Nardo. The infrastructure for the waterways will support the multimodal interconnection of means of transport, enabling direct connections between land and sea regions - ports with airports, ports with other ports or other remote areas - providing a safe and quick means of transport for the residents.
The participation of this partnership is a significant initiative for the promotion and showcasing of waterways around the world and the Municipality will also have the opportunity to promote Corfu's natural and cultural heritage and help the island's tourist campaign.
The Municipal Tourism and European Programmes Departments worked together in preparation for the Show to promote the destination in the best possible way along with the activities that visitors can enjoy on the island (Gastronomy, local products, alternative tourism etc.).
