Civil Protection Minister: Corfu and Zakynthos to get more police

CORFU. 50 additional permanent police officers will be employed in Corfu immediately to help implement the safety measures. The Minister said that Zakynthos will also get more police.
The spike in the pandemic, improved coordination of local authorities and law enforcement bodies and better communication with local communities regarding vaccination and adherence to safety measures were the main topics discussed at the Civil Protection Minister's meeting at the Ionian Islands Regional Administration Headquarters on Friday morning, 5 March.
After noting the proposals and concerns of the local representatives at the meeting, Civil Protection Minister Michalis Chrisohoidis announced that 50 additional permanent police officers will be employed in Corfu immediately to help implement the safety measures. He said that Zakynthos will also be getting more police.
Mr. Chrisohoidis also said that the vaccination programme in the Ionian Islands will be stepped up very shortly and that from the middle of March Zakynthos will get a new vaccination centre.
