CORFU. A nurse who had the second vaccine shot at Corfu Hospital suffered paralysis with the Guillain-Barré syndrome - an autoimmune neurological disorder.

It has not yet been confirmed whether the paralysis is directly connected with the vaccination.

The nurse was given a CAT scan which came out clear and is undergoing neurological tests to see exactly what has happened. The president of the Panhellenic Federation of Public Hospital Workers told Open TV and the programme 'Ora Ellados' that her lower limbs have suffered paralysis.

"She was completely healthy," he said. "It is certain that it is a side effect of the vaccination - 400,000 people have been vaccinated without any problems but this colleague had no previous problems. I am clear about what I am saying. Even the doctors there are saying it is an adverse effect of the vaccination. It's 1 in 400,000 and doesn't say anything about the vaccination but she is in a wheelchair and cannot get up - she is out of her mind.

"She has had both vaccine shots and immediately after the second shot she had a fever, unbearable pains and felt some paralysis and went straight to the hospital."

The Director of the 6th Health Region has confirmed the incident but the doctors have still not confirmed whether it is a direct adverse effect of the vaccination.

The 40-year-old nurse is a mother of two children.
