CORFU. Afra Primary School pupils have been collecting the lettuces and spring onions that they planted in the school΄s vegetable garden in October.
After about three months of caring for the vegetables (as best they could under lockdown) the harvest is now ready to be collected. Each of the 'little farmers' took a lettuce and two spring onions home to prepare a home-grown organic salad.
The project was led by teachers Thanasis Papadimitriou and Giorgos Michalas and aided by all the other teachers as part of an environmental education programme 'Cultivation of herbs and seasonal plants' to raise awareness amongst pupils regarding the environment and ecological cultivation.
