CORFU. Corfu Airport welcomed the new Sky Express aeroplane with a water salute.
A water salute is a traditional way for an airport to welcome a maiden flight, new aircraft or airline.
The Sky Express flight arrived from Athens with about 15 passengers on board and was the first time that the airline had used one of its brand new Airbuses for this route. Until now only propeller-driven aircraft had been used.
It is one of the 6 new Airbus A320 NEO that the company ordered and this morning's flight was the first time it had flown to Corfu. The plane departed 50 minutes later for the return flight to Athens.
