CORFU. At the moment it is planned to have 4 vaccination centres in Corfu and 1,018 nationwide.

According to Deputy Health Minister Kontozamanis, private medical labs are being asked to support the system.

The more vaccination centres there are, the less time it will take for people to be vaccinated, our colleague and neurologist Konstantinos Spiggos, who is a board member of Corfu Medical Association, told Enimerosi. The Association was asked by the National Medical Association to ask its members to come forward to help with the vaccination programme on the island.

At the moment it is planned to locate the vaccination centres at the four health centres - the former IKA in town, Lefkimmi, Agios Markos and Agros. The vaccination will be given in two doses, which means taking a longer period of time and, of course, it is important for the development of immunity in the population to happen as quickly as possible in order to drastically limit the spread of the virus.

According to the Health Ministry, the price offered to private labs will be €5 per person (€2.50 per dose). The labs will be properly equipped and have specialist health personnel.
