46 fines in Corfu yesterday - one day before lockdown begins

CORFU. Police issued a total of 46 fines on Friday 6 November - 38 for not wearing masks and 8 for violations of movement restrictions. Three businesses in Zakynthos and Cephalonia were temporarily closed.

Ionian Islands police teams are continuing their checks to ensure that the measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus are being adhered to.

Yesterday, Friday 6 November, the owner and manager of two catering businesses were arrested for having standing customers and exceeding the customer capacity. They were fined €13,000 and €10,000 and the businesses closed for two weeks.

On the same day in Cephalonia the owner of a catering establishment was arrested for remaining open after 23:30. A fine of €5,000 was imposed and the business closed for two weeks.

On Friday fines of €150 were also imposed for not wearing masks on 38 people in Corfu, 6 in Lefkada and 10 in Zakynthos. In Corfu there were also 8 violations of the measure restricting movement after midnight and 4 in Zakynthos which were fined €150.

It should be noted that from today, Saturday 7 November, Civil Protection Deputy Minister Nikos Hardalias announced that fines will be doubled - €300 instead of €150.
