ACHARAVI. North Corfu Municipality is taking anti-flood measures ahead of the possible worsening of weather conditions - streams being cleaned as the first priority.
North Corfu Municipal crews, in collaboration with Municipal and Regional Civil Protection Services, are working hard to provide flood defences in the area.
Streams and river mouths into the sea are being cleaned up to prevent flooding if the weather worsens and there are heavy downpours.
Work is being carried out throughout the Municipality as, once more, debris and large objects have gathered and are blocking the flow of the streams, leading to danger of flooding when the weather worsens during the winter.
The measures being taken are to protect the public and their property as well as their everyday lives when there are heavy downpours.
The local authority is calling on the public to be careful and to stop dumping large objects, which increase the danger of flooding.
