CORFU. The unannounced inspection of prisoners΄ cells in Corfu Prison by the counter-terrorism unit (EKAM) uncovered a number of items.
According to well-informed sources, the inspection took place just after nightfall and the EKAM officers searched through prisoners' possessions with a fine-tooth comb.
They uncovered two improvised weapons, a large number of psychotropic substances and mobile phones, all of which were seized.
Members of EKAM and Corfu Police took part in the operation and a statement from the police is expected soon.
