Another Corfu business fined and closed

CORFU. A Corfu catering establishment was fined €10,000 on Sunday and closed for 3 days - 66 people fined €150 over last 4 days for not wearing masks.

Three people in Corfu and Zakynthos were arrested between Friday 28th and Monday 31st for violations of the measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Police are carrying out checks on all the Ionian Islands and on Sunday 30 August a man who was temporarily in charge of a catering establishment was arrested for being open after midnight. He was fined €10,000 and the business was closed for three days.

In Zakynthos two foreign nationals were arrested on Sunday 30th and Monday 31st for organising events at a private venue which exceeded the maximum number of attendees. Fines were imposed on both of them.

During the same period of time 98 people in the Ionian Islands were fined €150 each for not wearing masks - 66 in Corfu, 17 in Zakynthos, 10 in Cephalonia and 5 in Lefkada.

The charges brought against those arrested will be passed on to the Prosecutors.
