CORFU. There was a tragic accident in North Corfu this morning, Monday 31 August, when a 60-year-old woman was fatally injured by a speedboat in Avlaki.
There was a tragic accident this morning in Avlaki, North Corfu when a 60-year-old British woman - a permanent resident in Corfu, according to initial information - was fatally injured by a speedboat.
The Coast Guard and an ambulance rushed to the scene and the woman's body was taken to Corfu General Hospital, where it is expected that the autopsy will be conducted tomorrow.
Cost Guard officials took statements from bathers but the boat and driver have not yet been found.
