CORFU. The limit of 50 people at a christening was not observed - 8 €150 fines in Corfu for not wearing masks
The organiser of a christening in Corfu was arrested on Thursday 27th for not adhering to the measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
According to the Ionian Islands Regional Police, the organiser was arrested for exceeding the maximum of 50 attendees and was fined 3,000 Euros.
Intensive police checks are continuing in The Ionian Islands to ensure that the measures are being adhered to and there were arrests in Zakynthos as well.
On Wednesday 26 August catering business owners were arrested in Zakynthos for exceeding the 50-person limit and were fined 3,000 Euros and their businesses closed for two weeks.
8 people in Corfu were also fined 150 Euros each for not wearing masks along with 3 in Zakynthos, 1 in Lefkada and 1 in Cephalonia.
Charges have been brought against the three arrested in Corfu and Zakynthos, which will be passed on to the Prosecutors.
