Casta Diva concert tonight at Old Fortress

CORFU. The Casta Diva concert, in tribute to Barbara Gavakou, takes place at the Old Fortress on Monday 3 August at 21:30.
The concert is being co-organised by Central Corfu Municipality, Anemomylos Cultural Society, Corfu Regional Theatres Association and the Inspectorate of Antiquities.
The evening is dedicated to the top soprano Barbara Gavakou, who passed away a year ago on 5 August, 2019.
Baritones Petros Karydis, Pantelis Kontos, Pavlos Pantazopoulos and Sotiris Triantis will be taking part.
The 12-member ensemble, Marilena Eloul, Yiannis Kourkoulos, Eleana Simati and Tassos Rossis will be accompanying along with San Giacomo Municipal Choir conducted by Antony Yvanov.
Top soprano Vassiliki Karayianni, who was a pupil of Barbara Gavakou, will be taking part. Vassiliki Karayianni is a lead singer at the National Opera and she will be performing the aria Casta Diva. Her dress was designed and created for tonight's performance by Laskaris.
Spyros Prosoparis will be conducting the choir and the concert has been arranged for a smaller orchestra.
All measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus will be adhered to and there is a limited number of seats available.
