CORFU. A memorandum for the construction and management of the church was signed today, Thursday 23 July, by Corfu Metropolitan Church and Corfu General Hospital.
A memorandum was signed on Thursday morning by Corfu Metropolitan Church and Corfu General Hospital for the construction and management of a church at Corfu Hospital called Agia Irene and Agios Loukas, which will be funded by the Church.
The church will hold services for patients and their families.
Archbishop Nektarios said that the church will solve a long-standing problem as up to now religious needs have been covered by the small area in the hospital entrance.
He stressed the work that had been done by the former Hospital Director Phivos Kakavitsas and thanked the present incumbent Leonidas Roubatis for bringing it to the stage of finally signing the agreement.
Both sides expressed their satisfaction and pleasure that, although there had been a long delay, this work was finally going ahead.
They both also expressed their desire to continue their excellent cooperation so that very soon hospital personnel, patients and their visitors will be able to properly attend church at the hospital.
