CORFU. The Detox Unit has been moved to the Child Psychiatry Department in the Psychiatric Clinic.

Corfu Hospital Director Leonidas Roubatis announced that the Detox Unit will be reopening following its temporary closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Statement from the Hospital Administration:

"As is known, as part of the COVID-19 measures Detox Units were temporarily closed nationwide, including at Corfu Hospital. The space that was used for the Detox Unit was made available for COVID-19 needs.

Following a proposal by the Coordinating Director of the Psychiatric Department and a decision by the Hospital Board, the Detox Unit was moved to an area in the Child Psychiatry Department of the Psychiatric Clinic.

The area was prepared according to medical and nursing recommendations and is available for use again today, 6 July.

It should be noted that nursing personnel consider the new space safer and much bigger than the previous location.

Hospital Director Leonidas Roubatis made the following statement:

"It gives us great pleasure that the new Detox Unit is reopening today. It was never permanently closed but just temporarily suspended dur to COVID-19 measures.

Both the Hospital Administration and I personally consider mental health a high priority and especially as regards addiction.

We will continue to support the work of the Detox Unit and 'Diaplus' through proper planning in collaboration with all the relevant health professionals and the users of the services."
