KOS. A strategic agreement to support Greek tourism was signed in Kos today by Greek Minister of Tourism Haris Theoharis and chief executive of TUI Group Sebastian Ebel.

Following the signature of the memorandum with TUI, Mr. Theoharis said: "I am very happy to announce that today I signed a very important strategic agreement with TUI in which:

- We set a common target to bring 50% of the tourists the group brought to Greece in 2019. Approximately 3 million tourists came to Greece last year via TUI.

-
We aim to achieve this target through joint advertisement. Greece will be the first country that TUI will cooperate with in this way.

-
We are planning common actions for the extension of the tourism period, a crucial issue for this year's success.

-
We are intensifying our efforts to extend tourists' stays in Greece.

- We are putting emphasis on strategic reorganisation and development of sustainable tourism.

-
We will plan new cruise routes for this year and for the following years.

-
We are focussing on digitalisation and less bureaucracy.

This agreement is very important for the country's efforts to gain the lost ground this year and gives the signal to every tourism professional that it will be in his/her interest to open their businesses this year and allows us to look to the future with optimism."

TUI's CEO Sebastian Ebel stated, "I will be disappointed if we do not meet the 50% target with Greece".
