Suspension of flights to and from Greece extended for some countries

Suspension of flights has been extended for Italy, Spain, UK, Netherlands, Turkey, Albania and North Macedonia. All international flights must only land at Athens International Airport.

Non-EU nationals remain banned from entering Greece.

The Greek Civil Aviation Authority announced preventative measures for the COVID-19 pandemic and issued 5 Notams with the following restrictions:

- All flights to and from Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and the United Kingdom are suspended until May 31 (23:59).

- All flights to and from Albania, North Macedonia and Turkey are suspended to June 14 (23:59).

- Until May 31 (23:59), all international flights are obliged to land at Athens International Airport.


- The entry ban on non-EU nationals is extended to May 31 (23:59).

CAA noted that all domestic flights will gradually introduce regular schedules, which were suspended for pandemic reasons, as of May 18 (Monday).

Exceptions to the suspensions include the following flights: cargo, emergency, military (apart from Turkey), Frontex, sanitary, humanitarian, ferry flights (returning crew) state, flights to support the Greek National Health System and flights to repatriate Greek nationals.

Exceptions to the ban on non-EU citizens include: family members, citizens of Schengen zone countries, health personnel, and third-country citizens with long-term visas to EU or Schengen countries, civil and defence authorities, humanitarian personnel, airline crew, and any non-EU citizen with a travel permit issued by a Greek consulate.
