CORFU. The Corfu Hospital Director told Enimerosi that there were no objections to acquiring the lab. There were different views as to what was the best solution for Corfu.
Hospital Director Leonidas Roubatis said that there were differing views as to the best solution for Corfu, and referred to the fact that his own specialisation is as a biochemist and operator of such labs.
He said that these types of diagnostic labs are installed in areas with particular specifications just like, for example, negative pressure rooms, and have greater demands on personnel and consumable reagents.
The equipment that the hospital is looking to purchase with the donation from the Chamber of Commerce does not have these specifications. It will of necessity be supplementary to the PCR procedure at Ioannina University Hospital. It will, however, givean initial indication of possible coronavirus cases.
Not only do I not have objections, Dr. Roubatis said jokingly, but I myself could operate it!
