ATHENS. According to Development Deputy Minister Nikos Papahanasis, thought is being given to how long people can stay on organised beaches - Gymnasiums open on 29 June and on 25 May restrictions on private boats to be lifted.

Deputy Minister for Development Nikos Papathanasis has announced that catering establishments and cafes will definitely open on 1 June.

He told SKAI 100.3 radio that the results of the first phase of gradually relaxing lockdown measures will be known at the end of May and it is natural that we want the steps to be taken properly so as to avoid any reversals.

Mr. Papathanasis said that the Prime Minister has in his hands all the proposals and requests for organised beaches to open earlier - even this weekend - and he will announce his decision by tomorrow.

He explained that what experts are concerned about is the amount of time to be spent on organised beaches by bathers.

He also said that the government is considering opening the shopping centre and malls earlier, on 25 May, and the opening of tattoo shops in May is also being discussed.

According to the plan, gymnasiums will open on 29 June and Mr. Papathanasis said that travel to the islands will be allowed from 25 May and all private boats will also be freed of restrictions on the same date.

It is planned that open-air cinemas will also open on that date.

Regulations for events such as weddings and christenings will be announced in June.
