ATHENS. The total number of deaths in Greece is now 150 and the total number of cases is 2,691.

Representing the Ministry of Health Prof. Sotiris Tsiodras gave the latest update on coronavirus in Greece.

The update began with the Ministry of Health Deputy Minister Vassilis Kontozamanis expressing the Ministry's condolences to the family of Dimitris Kremastinos.

Prof. Tsiodras then said that there were 13 new confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country today, taking the total to 2,691. 32 patients remain intubated, of whom 9 are females.

To date 85 patients have been discharged from ICUs.

There were two deaths today, taking the total to 150.

Referring to the death of Dimitris Kremastinos, Prof. Tsiodras said that he was "A tireless teacher and eminent scientist".

He then talked about the antibody tests and their effectiveness, saying that the antibody studies will be used for the moment in Greece for epidemiological purposes.

"In almost all of the coronavirus patients special antibodies were traced. According to the study, the possibility of false positives is less than 1%. The study confirmed the presence of antibodies whether or not someone had a mild form of COVID-19. The work will be published in Nature Medicine.

"People with positive antibodies will have a form of immunity but we don't know how long it will last. We are keeping those who had coronavirus under observation and we will see what their antibodies do. This study is taking place in several universities around the world.

"The Robert Koch Institute says that the effect of the summer on its own won't be enough to contain the spread of the virus," said Prof. Tsiodras.
