ATHENS. The daily evening updates from Prof. Sotiris Tsiodras for the Ministry of Health and Nikos Hardalias for the Ministry of Civil Protection will become less frequent in coming days.
According to an article in Eleftheros Typos, the recession of the coronavirus pandemic has led to the decision by the Ministry of Health to change the frequency of updates from daily to three or four times a week and whenever necessary due to special circumstances. The updates will probably be given on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Sunday is included as it is the day before Monday, which will in most cases be the day on which a new set of measures will be lifted. It should be noted that updates are being 'relaxed' in other countries as well.
In Germany, for example, it was decided to end the daily updates at the Koch Institute and only provide them when necessary.
According to the same source, the final decision will be taken today and the change will apply from Monday, when a week will have passed from the initial relaxation of measures and the second phase will begin.
Between live updates, whenever necessary, there will be written updates at approximately the same time.
Today (Friday 8th) the live update will goahead as usual and the Deputy Minister for Development Nikos Papathanasis will also be present to explain the rules and conditions for the reopening of the remaining shops and businesses on Monday.
