CORFU. A symbolic gesture from businesses in Gilford St. to express the worries and concerns of catering businesses regarding ΄the next day΄.

Gilford St. was filled with 'empty chairs' on Tuesday (5/5) morning as a symbolic protest from catering businesses expressing their worries and concerns regarding the 'next day'.

There demands were displayed in a graphic way - on each of the empty chairs in the street.

It is the hope of everyone that in the 'post-lockdown period' these chairs won't remain empty and will be occupied not with demands but with customers - giving the local economy the boost it so needs.

Tables and chairs to extend to adjoining public areas with agreement from residents.

Reduction in VAT to 6% for food and 13% for coffee.
