CORFU. An elderly woman was seriously injured on Thursday evening when she attempted to climb over the fence at her home in the Merlin area. Her upper leg was impaled on the sharp metal fence and both the Fire Service and an ambulance rushed to the scene. An hour later - which seemed like an age - all was well.
The sharp metal from the fence was surgically removed from the woman's upper leg. The rescuers who had rushed to her home had to bring her to the hospital with the metal still stuck in her leg.
The operation was swift and successful. As soon as she was brought to the Emergency Department doctors were able to remove the metal successfully though not without considerable bleeding.
Enimerosi wishes her a speedy recovery!
