Sotiris Tsiodras: Relaxation of measures carries the risk of resurgence of virus

ATHENS. Prof. Sotiris Tsiodras announced that there were 17 new cases of coronavirus in Greece today and 2 deaths.

At today's daily update Prof. Tsiodras announced that there were 17 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 in Greece today and 2 deaths - a 59-year-old woman at Alexandroupolis Hospital ICU and an 80-year-old man at Thessaloniki Papanikolaou Hospital ICU.

The total number of confirmed cases in Greece is now 2,534 and the death toll is 136. 46 patients remain intubated in ICUs, with an average age of 67 and 65 patients have been discharged from ICUs.

Prof. Tsiodras said that the gradual relaxation of measures carries the risk of a resurgence of the virus and he stressed the need for individual responsibility and adherence to the health measures.

"The Ministry of Health Committee has made its recommendations - the state decides," he said.
