CORFU. Civil Protection Deputy Minister Nikos Hardalias said there would be no lockdown exceptions for Corfu.
With regard to the request from several local organisations that the St. Spyridon procession go ahead in Corfu on Easter Saturday, the Deputy Minister told ERT reporter Marina Moschat that there are laws which apply to everyone - making it clear that it would be extremely difficult for there to be an exception for Corfu.
Corfu ND MP Stefanos Gikas told ERT that he will make every effort to allow the procession to go ahead but if this wasn't possible, he believed that, "Perhaps we should look at the possibility of the procession taking place in its full glory at another time when the lockdown has been lifted".
The Archbishop had already stated that, "The Metropolitan Church cannot hold - even within St. Spyridon Church - the procession with the sacred relics of St. Spyridon that has traditionally been held since 1553 along with the Epitaphio as this is not in line with the Governmental Decision".
