ATHENS. The daily update on coronavirus in Greece from Professor of Infectious Diseases Sotiris Tsiodras.

According to the latest data, there were two deaths today, taking the total to 101. The average age of those who have died was 73.

There were 25 new confirmed cases today, taking the total to 2,170. Prof. Tsiodras said that 76 patients are hospitalised in ICUs, with an average age of 68. 17 of these are females and 80% have underlying conditions or are over 70 years of age.

"The rate of increase in the number of cases is gradually dropping and the number of those hospitalised or dying from complications is decreasing," said Prof. Tsiodras and added that the basic reproduction ratio (R0) in our country is less than one, which means that the rate of infection is dropping and coronavirus is being contained.

Nevertheless, he made it clear that even though the numbers look good, it is not yet time to lift the measures.
