CORFU. With Easter coming up, the Medical Association said, "The 4 cases in Corfu have shown us that the virus is here and is looking for victims - let΄s not give it the chance."

Ahead of the upcoming Easter period, Corfu Medical Association has issued a statement regarding developments in the coronavirus pandemic.

"Corfu Medical Association, as a scientific organisation and adviser to the state in public health matters and having evaluated the progress of the pandemic, has a responsibility to point out the following:

Developments in our country to date are extremely satisfactory - both on a national and local level. The flattening of the pandemic curve bears out the policy of social distancing that has been implemented to tackle and contain the virus.

The Medical Association's consultations confirm that the authorities are continuing to successfully manage the number of cases in Corfu with the modern and human established method of tracing. The results of this are utilised to the full to prevent the spread of the virus regardless of the fact that they aren't published in order to protect personal data and to ensure that members of the public aren't exposed to needless backward stigmatisation. So let's show trust in those who have brought us thus far without experiencing the tragic situations of neighbouring countries.

Dear fellow citizens, we have entered the most critical stage of the battle that we have all fought together. The next two weeks will show how and when this nightmare we have been living through for a month will end. We mustn't take even the slightest step backwards. We must continue to stay at home, limit our movements as much as possible, maintain our distance and rigorously adhere to the health guidelines.

The Easter period must not change our habits of the past month. Easter will come again next year and it would be wonderful to celebrate it all together again without any losses due to negligence.

The 4 cases in Corfu have shown us that the virus is here and is looking for victims - let΄s not give it the chance.

HAPPY EASTER
STAY AT HOME"
