CORFU. The man, who had been in Corfu Hospital ICU since Monday, has been taken to Ioannina.
The second case of coronavirus in Corfu was confirmed on Wednesday 1 April. The test results from several samples sent from Corfu came back yesterday evening.
The results showed that a 75-year-old man who had been hospitalised in the ICU negative pressure room at Corfu Hospital since Monday was positive for COVID-19.
This is the first 'internal' case in Corfu as the 62-year-old man who was tested positive a few days ago had travelled to Corfu from abroad (Belgium).
According to hospital sources, this second case was immediately treated as suspect due to the severe symptoms and for that reason he was hospitalised according to COVID-19 procedures even before the test results came back.
The 75-year-old was taken by ambulance to Ioannina Hospital as was the first confirmed case from Corfu.
