ATHENS. There are another 6 categories of respiratory viruses and at least 4 categories of coronavirus in circulation!
The 'onslaught' of coronavirus continues in Greece. Infectious Diseases specialist Sotiris Tsiodras announced that 31 new cases have been confirmed in tha last 24 hours, taking the total up to 418, of which 68 are 'orphans'.
79 people are hospitalised, 13 of whom are tubed, with an average age of almost 70. 14 have been discharged from hospital.
Mr. Tsiodras said that we must each think of ourselves as a carrier of the virus and whether tests come out positive or negative we mustn't change our tactics. He also stressed that there should be no form of profiteering at the expense of members of the public.
The Professor of Infectious Diseases said that there are another six categories of respiratory viruses and at least four categories of coronavirus in circulation but added that the strict measures being taken for the new virus will also help against these other viruses.
He said that 4,000 samples have been checked and that at the moment the mortality rate is around 1%.
