ATHENS. 1,000 Euro fines for offenders.
The Civil Protection & Management Deputy Minister Nikos Hardalias announced new measures on Wednesday evening to prevent the spread of coronavirus COVID-19.
From Thursday public outdoor meetings of more than 10 people are prohibited, with an administrative fine of 1,000 Euros per person. Leisure and recreational activities with more than 10 people are also prohibited. The Deputy Minister reiterated the importance of staying at home.
Exceptions are going to work, the doctor, a food shop, post office,bank, filling station, assisting people in need and walking with someone else at a distance of 1.5m.
Mr. Hardalias stressed that businesses are obliged to operate only with essential personnel on a rotational basis. Call centres must operate with staff having a distance of 2m between them.
He also said that all Ministries have drawn up their own emergency plans and work at home programme is being supported.
Mr. Hardalias concluded by saying, "We would like to thank and are extremely grateful to those who should be at home but can't be - not only hospital staff but those working at supermarkets, delivery and courier businesses etc."
