CORFU. Notices with the new precautionary measures to safeguard against coronavirus have been clearly placed at supermarket entrances.

The new precautionary measures for supermarkets from the National Public Health Organisation (EODY) came into force today - one customer per 10 sq.m. and 2m distance between them.

Most employees wear gloves and the first customers have been wearing masks or using wipes when they hold the trolley or basket.

Several large supermarkets are using staff to control the entrance and employees are taking precautionary measures.

The Government is looking into extending the opening hours for food shops and a decision is expected in the coming days.

The same calm, controlled behaviour can be seen with customers at busy chemists in town.
